This 1964 (first sold in the U.S. in 1965) Porsche 356C coupe underwent a refurbishment in the early 1990s and was acquired by me approximately eight years ago. A replacement air-cooled 1.6L flat-four has since been installed and is paired with a four-speed manual transaxle that was refreshed with a replacement clutch, pressure plate, and flywheel. The car is finished in red over black leather upholstery and features a sliding sunroof, an aftermarket radio with Bluetooth connectivity, a CD changer, front fog lamps, LED taillights and turn signals, and chrome-finished ventilated steel wheels. This 356C is being offered by the seller on behalf of the owner in Gaithersburg, Maryland with service records beginning in 1976, a tool kit, and a clean Washington, D.C. title in the owner’s name, listing the vehicle as a 1965 model. Delivered from the factory in Signal Red (6407), the car went through rust remediation prior to a repaint in its current shade of red during the 1990s. Exterior features include front fog lamps, body-colored bumpers with overriders, LED taillights and turn signals, and a rear decklid with dual grilles concealing an LED third brake light. The car was involved in an accident in the late 1970s, and service records in the gallery detail subsequent repair work over the years, which has included welding cracks in the bodywork, rust remediation in both door jambs, and replacing the front crossmember, jack points, and floor pans. There is an imperfect alignment of the doors, decklid, and hood. Chrome-finished ventilated steel wheels feature matching hubcaps with Porsche center crests, and stopping power is provided by four-wheel disc brakes. The brake calipers were rebuilt in 2017, and pitting is noted on the wheels. The cabin has been reupholstered in Italian black leather with matching door panels, salt-and-pepper squareweave carpets, and a vinyl dash pad. Amenities include a sliding sunroof, an analog clock, and an aftermarket stereo with Bluetooth connectivity wired to an under-dash CD changer. A leather-wrapped three-spoke steering wheel sits ahead of a body-colored metal dashboard housing VDO instrumentation that includes a central 6k-rpm tachometer, a 120-mph speedometer, and a combination gauge. The five-digit odometer shows just under 25k miles, around 1,600 of which have been added during current ownership. The replacement air-cooled 1.6-liter flat-four (*88751*) was originally fitted in a 1961 356B 1600S and was installed by Treasured Motorcar Services of New Freedom, Pennsylvania in 2017. A receipt from the work is provided in the gallery. The car was serviced in August 2020 included the installation of a replacement carburetor linkage, ball sockets, accelerator lever, and hardware. The four-speed manual transaxle received a replacement throwout bearing, clutch, flywheel, and pressure plate in 2017, and the differential was also re-sealed at that time.
