1970 Buick Skylark GS
1970 Buick Skylark Convertible
Deep jewel green metallic is bathing the straight steel on this coke bottle designed car. Paint shows nicely with some areas of slight chipping and very light rust in a few seams. Dual headlights and an egg crate grille lead us off and a shiny bumper below has inset turn signal lights. Some thin stainless trimming can be seen edging the wheel wells and a bit wider piece for the rockers. Gaps are good save for the passenger door which does not close completely. It does latch but a wider gap is noted at the back of the door. A new convertible top in contrasting tan is looking in very good condition and sports a glass rear window. It moves up and down smoothly. A sporty design with characteristics of the Chevelle SS. Within the rear bumper are horizontal taillights and the bumper wraps around the rear quarters. Another wider gaping is noted on the driver's side where it wraps. Nice badging and Buick rally wheels are wrapped by raised white letter BFG's.
A swing of the door Willy Wonka and furnished chocolate vinyl with various textures covers the door panels. On the bottom of the driver's door some wrinkling and damage near a mounted speaker. A nicely stuffed split back front bench and a matching rear bench without the split are seen welcoming the passengers. A fold down armrest is between the front seats. These are covered in burnished saddle vinyl which is looking an awful lot like leather. Chocolate smooth headrests are on the tops of the front seats. A wood rimmed steering wheel fronts a chocolate molded plastic dash and out uses a black insert to house the square bezel round insert instruments. Below a trio of aftermarket gauges hangs above nicely preserved deep god carpeting. The tonneau cover is a lighter tan but works well with the interior. An aftermarket Sony AM/FM/Cassette radio is in the center of the dash. This dash shows some wear on the lower panels, and the temp sider panel is missing the front bezel.
Under the hood resides a newly rebuilt 350ci V8. It has a Howards cam, (.475i&e lift, .215 ie duration). An Edelbrock 650cfm carb is on top in 4-barrel form, and on back a TH350 3-speed automatic hands off power to and 10 bolt 2.73 posi rear axle.
Some heavy surface rust is seen throughout the undercarriage. It is contained to mostly the rear portion of the vehicle and is remaining structurally sound. The mid-section floor pans have no rust, as is the front of the car, only seeing some surface rust at the bottom of the engine framing. Stainless steel mufflers are on as is a front disc brake conversion with a power booster. Power drum brakes are on back. Independent front suspension and a 4 link with coil springs in back is showing most of the surface rust along with the rear axle.
